Patching and Repairs

This type of plastering work is normally carried out when previous work has been done such as window refits or bathroom replacements. We are able to carry out small and large patching and repair work, and can also advise whether a skim of the whole may be necessary to get an expert finish. All too often a skimming a whole wall may be more cost effective and give a better finish than a patching and repair job.

Skimming is a method of plastering usually done on plasterboard, artex or old and damaged plaster. It has a smooth finish and is suitable for painting or wallpaper once dry. Very often when people start to decorate an older property, they usually find the old plaster, cracked or damaged and not suitable for painting and decorating. The solution would be to re-skim the walls, but only after the walls have been properly prepared and treated.

Dry Lining

Dry Lining is a method usually used commercially to put up walls or partitions quickly. These are normally mounted to timber or meal studs. While the plaster board may not require a total re-skim, the joints will need to be taped and filled prior to decorating.

Rendering is sand and cement plastering generally done outside either to protect the building from penetrative damp, cosmetic purposes or both. There are different types of rendering finishes, with the most popular forms being a smooth finish or pebble dash.
